5 Feng Shui Tips to Refresh Your Home for Fall

9/15/2026

Hello!
There's a particular smell in the air this week. It's that first hint of woodsmoke and cooling earth — and every year it stops me in my doorway. Cub and Violet feel it too. They start snuggling into blankets they ignored all summer.

Fall is the Metal element's season in feng shui, which is really just a fancy way of saying it's time for clarity, precision, and letting go of what's run its course.

So this week, instead of a big overhaul, I want to offer you five small shifts that make a real difference.
  • Start by swapping out anything summery — thin throws, breezy linens — for textures with a bit more weight; heavier fabrics ground the energy as the days shorten.
  • Next, clear out the entryway. It's the mouth of chi for your whole home, and by September it's usually collected sandals, pool bags, and things that belong to June.
  • Add a warm lamp somewhere the natural light has started fading early — Metal energy loves a little glow of contrast.
  • Bring in something white, gray, or metallic, even a small bowl or a set of candlesticks, to honor the season without redecorating.
  • And last, walk your home once with fresh eyes and ask what feels unfinished — a repair, a pile, a drawer — because fall asks us to close loops before we turn inward for winter.

None of this needs to happen in one afternoon. I always tell clients that feng shui rewards small, honest attention far more than a weekend of frantic purging.Pick one of these five and just sit with how the room feels afterward — you'll likely notice the shift before you can explain it.

I'd love to know which one you try first. Drop a comment and tell me how your space feels this week. Thank you so much for being here.
XOXO,
Lisa
