3 Non-Traditional Tips to Stay Cool on a Hot Day

Picture

We’ve all heard the basics to staying cool on a hot day; stay indoors, wear loose fitting cotton clothing and take in plenty of liquids.  Have you ever considered some alternatives to keeping cool?  Check out these three tips...

Wear Blue
– wearing a cool color such as a pale or medium blue or aqua tone can be cooling.  By literally having this color next to your skin you’ll feel cooler.  Don’t believe me?  Try an experiment of wearing only oranges and reds for a few days, then opt for pale blues and aqua tones for the next several days after.

Meditation – You mind is an amazing tool and can help you stay cool when needed.  Do some visualization work using your imagination of sitting in a cool and calming location.  Perhaps you envision relaxing on a beach with a refreshing breeze against your skin.  Maybe imagining yourself lounging in a refreshing pool with a cool drink in hand is for you. Not matter what you prefer, play around with your favorite cooling visualizations.

Aromatherapy – I LOVE mixing Lavender and Peppermint essential oils to help feel refreshed on a hot day. I fill a misting bottle with a few drops of each and some water and then mist it onto my face and skin cool off. Experiment with essential oils.  Just be wary of using citrus oils and then going into the sun.

Hopefully these fun tips encourage you to stay cool on a hot day.  Keep this list on hand for your next tropical vacation too!
