Selecting paint colors for your home can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. Follow my simple tips to choose the perfect colors for your space.

1. Consider the room's purpose - Different colors evoke different moods and emotions. For example, blue is calming and serene and more yin in energy, while yellow leans more energizing and cheerful and more yang in energy. Think about how you want to feel in the room and choose a color that reflects that.
2. Look to your decor - Your furniture, artwork, and accessories can provide inspiration for your paint color choices. Pull out the colors that you love and use them as a starting point. Don't stress about looking "right", fitting in with trends or your neighbors. Remember everyone needs different decor in their space to make them feel good.
3. Think about the lighting - Natural light and artificial light can drastically change the way a color looks in a room. Take into account the direction the room faces and the type of lighting fixtures you have when selecting your colors. Be sure to get several swatches of paint and place them around the room so you can see how the light hits the color throughout the day and into the evening.
4. Don't forget about the trim - The color of your trim can make a big impact on the overall look of the room. Consider painting your trim a contrasting color to make it stand out. A white and gray color combo will pop while soft colors and a warmer white will blend.
