De-Clutter for a Successful School Year

Picture

Back to school shopping is done and classes have officially begun.  Is your family organized and prepared for a successful year?  If you have clutter lying around from the summer months, take some time to de-clutter and organize all of your summer gear.  Taking the time to prepare for a successful year will be surely be worth the effort.

To make it easy as ever, below are a few simple “do’s” and “don’ts” for de-cluttering.

Do – Do plan for this to be a multiple day project
Don’t – Don’t think you’re going to get it done in a day

Do – Create a game plan of exactly what summer items should be dealt with
Don’t – Go into this blindly, know what you need to address and go forward

Do – Do organize bins to separate items into “give away”, “donate” and “toss”
Don’t – Don’t toss everything into one bin, you’ll never get to it

Do – Do make lists and check off your accomplishments
Don’t – Don’t forget to make a list. With lists and checking off your tasks, you’ll feel so much more accomplished

Do - Do be realistic with what you want and NEED to keep
Don’t - Don’t keep something because you can’t decide either way. If you can’t decide, it means you don’t need it.

Do- Do enlist your family members to be responsible for clearing specific areas or their own bedrooms
Don’t – Don’t put all the pressure on yourself

The school year will be truly successful if you take some time to prepare now! What special ways do you and your family prepare for a successful school year?
