Device Clutter is Still Clutter

Picture

Do you find you have device clutter everywhere?  Our clutter is so different from our parents and grandparents.  They had clutter that consisted of a lot of newspapers, magazines and miscellaneous paperwork.  Fortunately, we are saving some trees these days and don’t have as much actual paper clutter. We’re now reading magazines and newspapers online, paying bills online, and more.  However, we now have an abundance of electronics which has changed our clutter to be completely different.  Not to mention we need to be so much more cautious of EMF's from all these gadgets.

I recently cleaned out a drawer in my office and found four different chargers, each for a different device.  Two of these devices I actually had gotten rid of a year ago.  I also found two different electrical adapters and an old cell phone.  Yes, electronics have caused us clutter!  We’re constantly upgrading wanting the latest and greatest and manufacturers are also changing devices and connections frequently which doesn't help.

No wonder we have an abundance of this stuff!

Here are six tips to cut down on “device clutter”.
  1. Keep only needed cords and devices that you actually use
  2. Get rid of old computers, printers and cell phones (please dispose of accordingly)
  3. Wind up any cords and tie with a zip tie or twist tie, then label as to what it connects with
  4. Label any special adaptors as to their use
  5. Store all cords and adaptors in one place in your home
  6. When you discard a device, find its coordinating adapters and plugs, and discard at the same time

Stay conscious of this electronic device clutter to ensure you don’t wind up with cords and connectors everywhere like I did!

Great post Lisa! I literally have a box of old cell phones and a drawer of old computer and electronic cords not to mention adapters I have no idea what they go to! You have inspired me to do some major purging, thank you!
