Honoring the Earth Energy in your Home

Honoring the Earth Energy in your Home

As a feng shui consultant, I share with people the benefits of bringing more Earth energy into their home. Earth is grounding, stabilizing, nurturing. In our fast paced world, our home should create a haven for us, where we indeed slow down and feel supported.

Yet, many people are not 'turned on' by the idea of bring some rocks and crystals as decor. Sometimes we forget to acknowledge the earth energy that is already have there. By noticing the components of your home that are already Earth energy, you can turn it into an intentional enhancement in your home. And as you redesign or remodel, choose finishes that automatically bring in more of that stable energy we all need.

Countertops and flooring could already be empowering your space if they are made from tile, stone, granite, quartz or even a quartzite.

Ceramic and terracotta tile is made from the earth. You have probably already noticed that when you spend time standing on it, you can feel more relaxed and more centered and supported. Specific colors might bring in layers of intention.

Countertops in your kitchen and bath are another place where you might already have a wonderful Earth energy happening. Granite and marble may have many types of minerals in them, such as amethysts,garnets, lapis and more. Each mineral carries properties of energy, health and healing that they are naturally imbuing into your home. When a countertop contains quartz crystals, they amplify the energy of what's around them. For example, if you are an angry cook, the quartz will amplify it. And if you cook with love and intention, the countertops will amplify this energy.

Furniture can also hold earth energy as well, with marble tops and embedded stonework. Take a closer look at what you already have, and then find out more about that type of stone and it's energy. And, as you look around your home with new eyes, you might also notice the stucco finishes, the stone work in your fireplace or patio, and other places where earth has just naturally made an appearing in your home.

So while I always think displaying rock and crystal pieces is gorgeous, bringing in Earth energy can be done so many ways in any decor and add just the sense of a grounded home that we all need!
