Do you travel often? How do you feel in different hotel rooms? You probably feel better in some than others, and you know it’s not just the furnishings or the tv channel selection. Hotels have so many people in and out and the energy can be a little crazy in them. Years ago I remember staying at one of the most beautiful and luxurious hotels in Paris, yet, I felt so uncomfortable and slightly unsafe staying in the room and not sure why. Unfortunately, this was before I learned about the effects of energy in a space, but I never have forgotten that feeling. I have many friends and family members who travel quite a bit, so I encourage everyone to follow these simple few steps when traveling.
1. Feel the Room
You probably initially walk into a room and check out the layout and furnishings. Take a few minutes before you unpack and really “feel” the room. Take some deep breaths and ask yourself the following; does it feel good or not so good? If it has a negative vibe, ask for a different room. While it may be uncomfortable to ask for another room, load up your bags and change, you don’t want to subject your body to a room without great vibes. You may be traveling on business and have client and meeting to tend to. Perhaps you’re just traveling for fun. Either way, don’t let the energy of a space mess with your sleep or a great experience.
2. Clear the Room
Most people think you have to burn sage and have a huge ceremony, hiring an expert to clear a space of negative energy. You can easily do this yourself though. I feel there is definitely a time and place to call on an expert, such as when dealing with your personal home or after dealing with any major life changes, however, in a hotel room there’s no reason you can’t clear a basic room yourself!
Upon entering a hotel room, I open all the doors to the bathroom and closets, open the draperies and a window if possible. Next, stand still and after some deep breaths, “feel” if there is any negative energy in the room. Pay close attention to the corners as this is often where any negative energy will be stuck. Then use two of my favorite space clearing tools…..Your Hands! Yes, your hands can clear the space, and lucky for you….you always have them around! Simply start at the door and circle the room in a clockwise direction clapping into the areas that may feel a bit darker. Listen to hear if the clapping sounds better than in other areas. Your goal is to hear a crisp, clear sound and finish back at the door. Complete the clearing by asking the room to provide you with comfort, rest, security and rejuvenation and thank the space for being available to you. Take another step and diffuse some essential oils into the room for a most wonderful feeling.
See how easy it is? Do you have a loved one who travels often? Be sure forward this on to them!
