The Big Television Experiment - Repost

Picture

With the beautiful weather arriving, I wanted to remind you of this previous post. Encourage less TV time and spend that time outdoors with your family enjoying each other. Go on a family walk, sit outdoors with your favorite book, or play a game outdoors during this time.

Is Your Focal Point Your TV?

If you find the focal point in your family room to always be your television, you may be missing out.  I invite you to take part in The Big Television Experiment.

You work hard to fill your home with things you love, and things that bring you joy.  Why not admire them for a while?  By focusing on the television, you’re essentially escaping life for a bit and the people in the room.  Sure, it’s fun to gather the family for a popcorn and movie night, however, this is very different from the “there’s nothing else to do so let’s turn on the tv and zone out” mentality.

I invite you to experiment with me by following the steps below.
  1. Begin by moving your television or your furniture around so that your main focus is not on the television
  2. Open any blinds or draperies to let in plenty of light
  3. Add a neatly arranged pile of your favorite magazines or books to the room
  4. Musically inclined? Bring your instruments into this space
  5. Schedule time with your family when the television is NOT on, encourage “fun” reading, music or play your favorite game in your family room
After a week, I just know you’ll enjoy this time so much more than a television! What is your family's favorite outdoor activity?
