The Scoop on Those Pretty Salt Lamps

​​Salt rock lamps are becoming more and more popular and easy to find in local stores.  They used to be only available from specialty shops and I literally just saw several for sale at a local TJ Maxx store!  Well now that they’re more readily available and inexpensive I’m having people approach me about these pretty glowing rock specimens and I thought it was time to do a quick overview.
 
So here’s the scoop on these salt lamps….
Himalayan Salt is the most beneficial, cleanest salt found on earth.  These large crystallized pieces of salt are  harvested from the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains.  When heated, they will release negative ions into the air.  These are the same type of ions found in abundance in areas such as waterfalls and oceans and they make you feel oh-so good. You know the feeling right?!?!

You can now easily purchase a lamp in natural crystal shape and pinkish-orange color that will have a beautiful glowing effect once you turn it on.  You simply plug in and flip the switch and the heat from the small light bulb will then cause the crystal to release negative ions into the air.

I’ve purchased many lamps with a small bulb inserted in the bottom.  I’ve also purchased many salt rock candle holders that have a space carved out for a small tea light candle.  These look especially pretty in a collection!  However, my most exciting new salt rock lamp purchase is a desk size lamp that plugs into my computer via USB port for power.  Oh then things the come up with!
